Having fun with my peanut...

Being a mom is a lot of work (way more than you could ever anticipate), but it is so much fun watching them get bigger! Zoey is so much fun to hang out with all day. We manage to get more and more done every day. I was even able to get all of my laundry done today!

zoey's first haircut

It may seem we were a little too eager to give little Zoey a haircut at only 3 weeks old, but I am inclined to think not. The poor little thing was looking like an old man with her male patterned baldness. Her Grandpa Warner said we should be turned in to CPS, but you can be the judge. I think she looks cute with her fresh start!

Birthday Dinner March 23rd

This is the best birthday dinner ever!

Mike made me all of my favorite things for my birthday dinner since we couldn't go anywhere with Zoey. I always wanted hot dogs and cheese Doritos for my birthdays growing up so this was a modification of that. He made hot dogs and quesadillas and brought home my favorite coconut shrimp roll and candy (cadbury eggs). He also made my grandmas delicious lemon cake with a cream cheese frosting and coconut. It was fantastic!
Why couldn't we have this for dinner every night?!

new things

I finished Zoey's room a while ago, but have not had time to post a picture.  I still have plenty of organizing to do, but it is done for now. Mike painted the great paintings above her crib. I painted the owl on the shelve, made the pillows on the bed, her quilt and refinished the yellow table and my brother-in -law made the crib and the shelves. I am really happy with how everything turned out.

And we finally got new chairs. I decided I could not live without these so my sister picked them up for me at Potato barn in AZ and lucky for us Scout and Tony came out last night so Scout could go to Disneyland for her 8th birthday. That meant getting our chairs earlier than anticipated and getting to hang out with them for a night!

Cute pictures

My sister Kim took these cute pictures of Zoey so I wanted to share them with everyone.... I think she is so cute!!

BURGERS!!!

I love burgers and Mike stumbled upon this gem of a place just down the road from our house! The burgers are awesome so we had to take Kim, Aftin and Zoey to taste it as soon as we could. We will be regulars to the Hole in the Wall Burger Joint! The best thing about this place is it shares a wall with Winchell's donuts.

Happy Anniversary Mikey!!!! (on the 15th)

It is hard to believe that Mike and I have been married for a year! It has gone by so fast and we got the best anniversary gift possible..a cute little baby girl. It has been a great year. We managed to get away for a full hour and forty five minutes before I felt like we needed to get back to Zoey (lucky for us we had Kim here to babysit). We went to my favorite place to eat...Houston's.

For some reason I have hated sushi until trying the coconut shrimp roll here. now I cannot get enough of that roll. I am not sure that I have become a sushi lover, it may just be a love for the one roll, but I could eat it for every meal! I am excited to start a new year with my little family.

Baby Zoey!

Our little girls has arrived! It was an interesting delivery... everyone said delivery is not so bad, but I will beg to differ. I am sure my ridiculous fear of foreign objects puncturing my skin was the main culprit to my unenjoyable experience. It also was not very awesome that my epidural worked right up until the actual delivery part and I got to experience what a natural birth feels like on half of my uterus. This just confirms those who choose to have a natural birth are completely insane!
Now that it is all over I am so happy to enjoy having Zoey here! She is so cute and fun to have around. She is really little. She was 5 lbs 3 oz and 18.5 inches long. Thankfully I have my sister here and mike of course to help with everything.
I am sure there will be more to come. Enjoy these pictures for now.

My awesome husband

Mike made this video for Sixpence None the Richer and it turned out really great. I am really excited for him that he is able to start doing some of his own stuff. He is really talented :)

Enjoy

As dumb as this is I had to finish watching it ... and do people really have this much time on their hands??

my first quilt...

I finished the baby quilt! I still have to figure out what I am going to do with the rest of the bedding, but I have the biggest challenge out of the way. I am happy I choose to go with the pink colors. I think the room will look much cuter with these fabrics. Here is the finished product!

Thanksgiving 08'

Mike and I got to go to Arizona for Thanksgiving to spend some time with my family. We had an awesome dinner and spent two nights at each house to maximize our time with everyone. We were planning on spending Christmas in Virginia, but due to Mikes work schedules and crazy expensive tickets we will be back in Arizona. It will be a short trip, but I am always excited to spend more time with family!
Kim got some fun pictures at the Temple lights with her brand new Canon 50D! My favorites are of Mike and Tony showing off their pregnant bellies :)

The Good Old Days

My cousin sent me these pictures a while ago and I was looking at them yesterday missing the fun times we had in Mexico over the years. It makes me sad to think the Mexico vacations could end. Growing up can be a little depressing sometimes watching everything change so much. I wish we could have at least one more summer in Mexico with all of the cousins and Grandma Nellie.

Baby Afghan

I finished the afghan and have started working on the baby quilt. I went with the pink colors after all.

New colors...

I think I am going to go with different colors for the baby room and the quilt....

What do you think???
I decided this will look a lot more girlie and I am making an afghan that is cream pink and yellow that would look good with these fabrics. I will post a picture of it when it is complete.

Another Project Complete..... Sort of

So I finally decided to redo our bedside tables so they would match our room. I managed to complete one of them today after sweating to death outside. I am sure the second one will go much faster than the first! I learned a little trick to making the table look a little antiqued without making it look too worn from watching Top Design. I think it turned out pretty well.

The future baby room

I have already started to make plans for the baby's room. After sorting through websites looking for the perfect baby bedding I decided no one has what I am looking for. So... I bought a sewing machine
found some awesome fabric in the perfect colors and a cool book with a great quilt patternThe crib in this picture is awesome by the way, but unfortunately not very practical.
My brother-in-law is making us our crib! I am really excited for that... It will look like this, but it will be a nice cream colorI am excited to get started and try my hand at quilt making. I hope it does not end in disaster!

Utah Visit

I got to go to Utah for about a week to meet my new baby niece Abbey and hang out with friends.
I was looking forward to a little fall weather and I got a snowy blizzard instead.
I had a fun weekend anyway. I got to hang out with some of my family
Abbey

2 sisters and some nieces
Brother Wade's family
I even got to spend a little time with Chris, Sarah and Isabelle. I spent the last couple nights at Brooke Anderson's cabin and got to go to dinner with all the girls.

All in all it was a pretty fun trip. I definitely missed Mike. I guess I am used to having him around and find days to be more enjoyable when he is around. I got to go to Cafe Rio about 5 times and loved every bite! And I am happy to say I only gained 3 pounds this month!
We get to go back to Utah in about 2 weeks for another baby blessing so I can get my fill again.

Baby Zoey

This is our little baby girl at 20 weeks. I am pretty sure we will end up naming her Zoey. She was moving all around and stretching out. She loved this pose. You can barely see her legs directly above her head and her little bum just above and to the right. "Plow pose" in Yoga. We got to see her heart with all 4 chambers working, her bladder, stomach, fingers, toes and spine. It is pretty amazing to already see her moving around. We are really excited to have her here! I love that I can start shopping for stuff now that I know it is a girl. Some of our friends gave us some onzies and reality hit me! We will have something to fill those in no time!

Food in Los Angeles

I have been living here for about seven months, not including the 6 months of traveling here, and I have yet to find a place that I love to eat. There are plenty of good places to eat around here, tons in fact, but not a single place that I would want to eat at any given moment.
Thinking back on all of the places I have lived, there have always been several places I would love to eat at at any given moment.

Arizona = Ned's Crazy Sub (this place has delicious bread that makes the sub's have a distinct taste no one else can duplicate)

Rosa's (all around GOOD Mexican food)

Idaho = the Pizza place up the street I can never remember the name of (delicious bread sticks and calzones)

New York Burrito (good ingredients for good burritos)

Texas = EZ's (the best burger place EVER)

Rudy's BBQ (the best BBQ brisket in the world)

Utah = Cafe Rio (a taste so many have tried to duplicate, but it can't be done)

Thai Chile Gardens (best massaman curry, and pad Thai I have had to date, and I have tried a lot of places in California, no one comes close)

Good Wood (great pulled pork and brisket sandwiches)

J dogs (best hot dogs)

Bajio (close second to cafe rio.. different taste, but just as good)

Bombay House (excellent Indian food that strangely enough is in Provo Utah)

I am feeling let down by the food places here. How could there be SOOOO many places to eat, all with good food, but not a single place that gives me something that is unforgettable!?
I am heading to Utah on Thursday and I can't wait to get a taste of food I have been craving!
